HRH Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Province, on Monday, the 25th of Muharram 1431H (11th of January 2010), convened the meeting at his office, for Prince Salman Science Oasis (PSSO). At the commence of the meeting, HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) and also the Chairman of the Executive Council of PSSO, briefed the meeting about the components of PSSO and the endeavored objectives. Additionally, he sated that the construction of the main facility will soon commence at the side of PSSO, located along King Abdullah Road, northwest of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). He narrated that PSSO will contribute in encouraging the mushrooming generation to explore science by instilling in them the importance of science and in the bargain enable them to decide their future life path. HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz also declared the completion of the architectural designs of the project, under the supervision of Al Riyadh Development Authority (ADA). In his speech, HRH Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz urged the businessmen and the affluent to donate to the charity for the benefit of citizens and the country adding that “the businessmen and wealthy when called to donate, to any charity work, are confident of a good disposal of the body that takes donations and would not hesitate to donate to the knowledge that their contributions will bear fruit in projects benefiting the citizens and he expressed his thanks to the contributors.” When the contribution was announced, the largest donors were Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Telecom, Al Riyadh Philanthropic Society, Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh, and Saudi Oger Company.
